SAN ANTONIO REGIONAL FLOOD PLANNING GROUP
Open Call for Amendment Proposals
The San Antonio Regional Flood Planning Group is providing an opportunity for Region 12 communities to incorporate their flood mitigation needs into the 2023 Regional Flood Plan and subsequent State Flood Plan through an amendment process. If your community plans to apply for 2026 FIF funding for a flood mitigation need, it is critical for it to be listed in the 2024 State Flood Plan. Communities have until January 15, 2025, to be considered for Region 12’s Amended Plan. Please review this information sheet for more details on the amendment process and requirements.

The San Antonio Regional Flood Planning Group began Cycle II of Regional Flood Planning in January 2024. The next meeting will be February 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
Region 12 Purpose
The purpose of the San Antonio Regional Flood Planning Group (SARFPG), Region 12, is to provide comprehensive regional flood planning and to carry out the related responsibilities placed on regional flood planning groups by state law. Foremost among those responsibilities is the development of a regional flood plan for the planning area. The plan identifies both short and long-term flooding issues and recommends flood management strategies for addressing them. The plan is updated every five years.
The SARFPG is composed of planning group members representing various interest groups. It is guided by the Texas Water Development Board, led by an Executive Committee, governed by by-laws, and supported by the San Antonio River Authority and a team of technical consultants. Planning group meetings are held on a monthly basis.
